Ushna Shah Shares she suffers from Prosopagnosia

Pakistani actress Ushna Shah has shocked as her fans by saying she has a rare problem called face blindness (prosopagnosia).

This week, Ushna Shah shared on her Instagram stories that she often has trouble recognizing people’s faces right away because of a condition she has called (prosopagnosia) face blindness.

“I want to take a moment to explain a condition called prosopagnosia, or face blindness, which makes it hard for a person to recognize faces,” she wrote. “Over time, this has become more noticeable for me, and now I often don’t recognize people right away, even in places I know well.”

“What used to be a joke has turned into a frustrating experience for me over the years, and I know I’m not the only one,” Shah said.

The actor added, “If I ever don’t recognize you during a conversation, please know it’s because of this condition, not because I don’t care.”

What is prosopagnosia?

According to the National Institute of Health, prosopagnosia is a brain disorder that makes it hard for people to recognize even their family members or friends. To help with this condition, treatment includes learning other ways to recognize people, like paying attention to their voices.
